Northwest Arkansas is full of fun and family-friendly activities. Here are some of the highlights for this holiday season:
The Rink at Lawrence Plaza: The Downtown Bentonville square is always hopping. During the spring and Summer, Lawrence Plaza, located right next to the trendy 21C Hotel, hosts a splashpad. Come November, the same space becomes The Rink at Lawrence plaza, featuring open ice skating during several daily sessions, and schedules time for broomball and hockey as well. Admission is $5 and includes skate rental.
Lights on the Square: The Bentonville Square is lit up and ready for Christmas and the New Year! Stroll through downtown with your kids and enjoy the beautiful lights, including the Civil War Memorial statue that lights up in time to music. Afterwards, enjoy some of the great restaurants on the square such as Table Mesa, La Taviola, The Station (famous burgers), or stroll through the Walmart Museum, which includes Sam Walton's original truck, his recreated office, Helen Walton's wedding dress, Sam's congressional medal of honor, and many other family interactive exhibits.
The Walton museum also is home to a fabulous and inexpensive 50s style ice cream, soda, and coffee shop, and a retro gift-shop full of all of the candies and toys you remember from your childhood. A replica of Santa's sleigh is just outdoors ready for photo opportunities for the kids and adults. Have fun in one of the most progressive small towns in the US! Just south of lovely Bella Vista, your vacation home!
